Do you want to dress like a million bucks but think you can’t because you’re not rich?
Well, you’ve come to the right place because I always believed that to look classy or sophisticated, you don’t have to be rich. You can be on a budget and still look more polished and classy head to toe, effortlessly.
So, today, I’m gonna be sharing a few tips and tricks that I use on daily basis to look classy and sophisticated.
Now, let’s get started
# Choose Structured Pieces
The first thing that I would highly recommend is choosing structured pieces over slouchy pieces. I know a lot of you love wearing those loose baggy sweatshirts and t-shirts or a top but in reality, it’s quite difficult to elevate those slouchy pieces and on the other hand, structured pieces are easier to elevate. They will give a more polished and sophisticated look and you automatically look expensive. So, always choose structured pieces over slouchy ones.
# Wear Pieces That Fit Well
This recommendation is related to the first point only. You might have the most expensive outfit but if that doesn’t fit you well, it’s all gonna go down in vain. Make sure that your outfit is not too tight or loose, it should be of a proper fitting. So, always invest in the clothes that are your exact size. It’s the easiest way to look sophisticated and polished. Try to add at least one structured pieces in your overall outfit to create the perfect style balance.
# Show Off Skin Tastefully
This is one of the main rules that you should take care of while styling an outfit. Showing a lot of skin at a time doesn’t make you look classy. Having a proper balance will make your outfit look classy and sophisticated and by that, I mean showoff skin tasteful. If you want to show your cleavage, your dress should ideally be on the long side (a calf-length or at least knee-length), or if you want to flaunt your collarbone, your pants should be a full length. Same way, if you want to wear short bottoms, don’t for a sleeveless or spaghetti top, or if you want to wear a spaghetti top, layer a jacket or shrug on top of that. I think these are tricks that you should apply, then only an outfit looks elegant and classy.
# Stick To Monochrome
This is one of my favourite and that is to wear monochrome outfit. Monochrome outfit means stick to one color from top to bottom, ofcourse shades can vary. I think this is the one trick that is easy to apply and always gives excellent result. If you play with the lot of color, u can probably go wrong and you don’t want to do that! So just stick to one color, If you want to look more chic and stylish. And creating a monochrome look is not that tuff and you can look high fashion guaranteed.
# Avoid Loud Prints & Patterns
The next tip is to ditch the overpowering prints and distressed details because they tend to give a more casual and relaxed look. On the other hand, solid colors will give a more polished and sophisticated look. Also, solid colors are way more versatile than prints and patterns. You can pair them multiple times. So, try to incorporate this while shopping.
# Go For Sleek Hair
When it comes to looking chic and classy, nothing can beat sleek hair. This instantly gives you that sophisticated vibe. Having hair around your face and even the strand of the hair gives an informal and casual look. Instead, sleek hair gives you a more poised look. So, when you want a clean look, go for a sleek ponytail, a bun or short hair tucked behind your ear.
# Wear Statement Jewelry
Incorporating jewellery into your look is always a good idea and the right choice of jewelry can definitely add grace to your outfit and makes it look more appealing. Even a simple outfit will be transformed into amazing ones if you accessories it well. Maybe gold studs or hoops with an LBD or a statement choker with an off-shoulder top or a bracelet or a ring for a cocktail event. The idea is to go for simple jewelry when aiming for a classy and sophisticated look. Don’t overboard the look with jewelry.
# Adding A Classic Wrist Watch
We know that women have a wide range of fashion accessories but I feel a wristwatch is the statement piece that everybody should have. It’s an extension of your personality and reflects your inner style and character. Even if you don’t accessories much, even then wearing a nice classic wristwatch can leave a very nice impression. So, do invest in at least one wristwatch.
# Carry A Structured Bag
I believe a good handbag can make or break your look and when we talk about looking classy or sophisticated, structured bags are the most preferable. It looks high fashion and adding that with your look definitely gives expensive look. You can see a lot of celebrities carrying structured handbags.
# Apply Light Makeup
The next tip is to apply light makeup. No matter how much we love full coverage heavy makeup, the reality is that it doesn’t give a classy and sophisticated look. So, when you want a polished look, always go for light makeup. You just need to do 3-4 steps to transform your look and that is to fill your brows and apply mascara to open up your eyes, apply some blush to add life to the dull face and wear a complementing lipstick with a well moisturized face. These will be enough to make the huge difference.
# Getting Yours Nail Done
Another important tip would be getting your nails done. You should always make sure that your hands and nails are lotioned and painted. If you have a nice neat nails, it always makes a big difference. You should always put a good nail paint, it makes your finger and your hands look very neat and very clean. Having nice nails always adds that little pep to your step and when your nails look good, you feel good. Also, the best nail length according to me are not too big or not too small and that is the length which I prefer and also I feel like that is the length which looks classy and elegant.
# Go For Pointed Footwear
The next tip is to wear pointy shoes and closed footwear when you want to look cleaner and sophisticated. They are the most elegant and gives a polished vibe to the whole outfit. You don’t have to necessarily go for heels, you can go for loafers, mules, or anything like that. Also, if you are a petite figure, wearing pointy toes shoes will create the illusion of longer legs.
# Coordinate Your Shoes & Bag
Matching your handbag with your shoes is one of the most effective and easiest ways to create an expensive look. I know a lot of you might think that it’s an outdated way but in reality, this is the easiest and effective way and it will never go out of style. It can really upgrade your overall outfit and bring uniformity to the whole look. Just pick the one primary color or the base color from your outfit and wear the shoes and bags of that color only.
